Stephen Garcia Allowed to Return to the Gamecocks
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia has been allowed to return to the team.
Coach Steve Spurrier had suspended Stephen Garcia for the spring semester from team activities after he was arrested twice on misdemeanor charges.
Spurrier says he allowed Stephen Garcia to return once spring practice was over. Athletic department spokesman Steve Fink says Stephen Garcia attended a team meeting Monday and will be allowed to workout with the team.
The freshman was arrested February 17th and charged with drunkenness and failure to stop for a police officer.
Stephen Garcia was arrested March Third on charges of malicious injury to personal property after a visiting professor said Stephen Garcia used a key to scratch the man's parked car.
Stephen Garcia asked for the pretrial intervention program on that charge.
