Quick hits from spring ball ...
Couple of quick notes for Gamecocks first spring practice on a gorgeous Friday afternoon.
*LB Jasper Brinkley isn't in a no- or limited-contact yellow jersey. He's participating in drills without holding back, a good sign for those concerned about his ankle.
*Receivers Dion Lecorn and Matt Clements are in uniform and practicing. Little bit of a surprise, considering Lecorn's legal entanglement hasn't been settled.
In court Thursday, he asked for a jury trial for his simple drug charge. The athletic department policy is that players are suspended until the legal process has been run. We'll ask Spurrier a little later.
*It's Ellis Johnson's first practice as D-coordinator.
*Mark Barnes, Chris Culliver, Clements and true freshman CC Whitlock are all in red, offensive jerseys. There's been some talk that some of those players might be heading to Johnson's defensive unit.
*As expected, Eric Norwood worked some at LB. The All-SEC end is quick enough to play outside, and USC is loaded with young ends that need to play.
